Had a look at this back in March but decided not to invest (missing the quick 60%+ rise). But for me it was just looking at SensorTower and adding all their revenues up, and it kinda doesn't add up. However, data from SensorTower might not be accurate, especially since you can't get revenue data from China since they don't use GooglePlay most of the time. But compared to BIGO Live, which is listed as top apps in most countries, JOYY seems better both ranking and revenue generating wise (not invested in either). But congrats on your gains!
SensorTower data is somewhat unreliable outside the US and quite biased towards iOS (other vendors can be more reliable). On the other hand, these guys are Android specialists. That's the reason why the study took so long (started when the stock was fluctuating around $1.8). Part of it involved checking the stats for each of the many apps on Android vs iOS, doing hands-on testing and comparing versus competitors (both hands-on and in reviews), in different markets. Ultimately, the bottom numbers did largely match with their reported income.
